Valencia, a Mediterranean region with vast beaches and warm weather all year round, is the land that saw the birth of what is probably Spain’s most internationally recognised dish: paella.

Tasting and learning how to cook its different variations is a wonderful experience, especially if you visit the Albufera National Park beforehand, to see where they cultivate the ‘best rice in the world’.

The city of Valencia has the third biggest population is Spain but will surprise you with its harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. In just a few minutes you can take a pleasant stroll from its precious medieval historic centre, to the stunning City of Arts and Sciences.

Another must-see city is Elche, whose Palm Grove was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.

This region is rich in archaeological sites and it was in exactly one of them where the famous symbol of Iberian culture, the Lady of Elche, was found.

Valencia is a paradise for water sports lovers, having hosted the notorious America’s Sailing Cup twice.

Diving and golf enthusiasts will also be able to find a large number of places for practicing their favourite sports.

Another great passion of the Valencians are popular festivals, let’s try some out! You can always find some festivals where you can soak up the local traditions, such as the famous Fallas in Valencia, the Bonfires of San Juan in Alicante, and the Moors and Christian festivals that are celebrated all over throughout the year.
