Each of the four main islands that form the Balearic archipelago has unique characteristics making it different from the rest.

Known as the green island, Menorca is a haven of peace, sunlight and nature. Declared in its entirety as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the s’Albufera des Grau Natural Park is the best example of why it received this recognition. Its impressive prehistoric constructions, Roman Sites and medieval fortresses make up its allure, and show that this is a destination to spend some time discovering.

With an ideal environment for sports, the Balearic Islands host hundreds of competitions throughout the year. Golf, sailing and cycling are some of the most popular activities in a region with great sporting tradition. It is no coincidence that the three-time Moto GP world champion, Jorge Lorenzo, and the tennis legend, Rafael Nadal, were born there.

Internationally famous, Ibiza is an island of wonderful contrasts. Cosmopolitan and traditional, its vibrant nights become sunny days in which to discover its countless coves of crystal clear waters, churches, pure white houses and rich archaeological sites. Its beautiful walled Old Town, Dalt Vila, declared a World Heritage Site, is thought to be the best conserved fort in the Mediterranean.

The Balearic Islands are also a shopping paradise. Some of the best Spanish and international brands can be found in Palma de Mallorca, as well as the traditional Hippy Market in La Mola, where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere and the spirit of those first hippies who came to Formentera in the 60s, seduced by the peace and freedom that flows through the island.

With similar landscapes, it makes sense that this archipelago has been the birthplace, and a magnet, to some great artists throughout history. One of the greatest revelations of contemporary Spanish art, Miquel Barceló, was born here, and the Catalan artist Joan Miró spent a large part of his life here, being strongly connected to Palma de Mallorca, where a foundation exhibits a large collection of his artistic works.

An example of these landscapes is World Heritage Site, the Serra de Tramuntana, which is another prided treasure of the people of Mallorca.

A favoured place to visit is the beautiful town of Valldemossa, described as “the most beautiful place in the world” by the genius Frederic Chopin, where he composed a large number of his Preludes.
